Hudson had his well check this week, and it was full of surprises—unexpected and unwanted surprises. First, we learned that Hudson is a little low in the weight department. He is on the tall side, but he is a little too lean. We have been aware of his weight issues—though we did not know he would be this low—because the kid DOES NOT EAT. He is not interested in food, and at times completely refuses to eat.
We know that his lack of eating is due to the fact that he constantly constipated. He struggles. Struggles, STRUGGLES to go to the bathroom. And whenever he finally does—days later than the last time—he cries and screams and is in extreme pain. We have worked rigorously to remedy his problem, but everything we try only works for a short time. It works at first, but then it seems that his body gets use to it, and then he becomes constipated once again. It is very frustrating and aggravating; but no matter what we do, we cannot seem to find a solution.
And if his bathroom issues were not bad enough, they then make him refuse to eat. Who wants to eat when one has constant constipation? Hudson sure doesn’t, and so I am constantly following him around giving him bites of whatever I can get him to eat. It is a long and tiring process. I do not enjoy it at all. And my tireless efforts are not working anyway, because he is not gaining weight like he should. I don’t know what to do; and I am tired of the way I have to feed him. It is really not fun.
The other surprise we received at the doctor’s office was two ear infections. I absolutely had no idea. Hudson did not show any symptoms, nor did he express or show any pain. I was completely shocked. Luckily, he still has shown no symptoms, and he has still not expressed or shown any pain. Thankfully.
But despite our unexpected surprises, Hudson is a happy and healthy boy. He is growing and learning just as he should; and he is proficiently hitting all of the milestones his doctor is looking for. He is such a fun and sweet boy who simply charms our family. We all love him to pieces.
His 18 month growth percentiles were:
Weight 22 lbs 12 oz (25%)
Height 33” (75%)
Head 18 1/2” (25%)

I am sorry to hear about Hudson's constipation problems. Ella had the same problems too when she was that age, thankfully it cleared up on its own when she was about two, so there is some hope!
Also I am sure you have tried everything, but I got this tip for Ella and it seemed to help:
prune juice with melted butter in it!
Good luck!
