Hudson's 4th Birthday

My sweet little boy turned 4 this week. He has waited and waited for his birthday. (It is hard to wait to turn 4—just ask Hudson.) But the day finally arrived, and Hudson couldn’t have been happier. He had his presents, his Octonauts cake (took me all night), his shark piƱata, pizza (pretty much the only meal he really likes), family, singing, a double rainbow, and a trip to the movie theater. He truly had a wonderful day, and thoroughly enjoyed turning 4. And he has informed me that he is still the birthday boy until his cake is gone. I think that is pretty good logic for a four-year old.

Happy Birthday Hudson! I love you.

Elle's Second First Day of Second Grade

Since we bought our new house—it only took Johnny and I ten years of marriage to buy our first home—Elle had to switch schools. She was a little unsure about doing this, but now that she is on her third week of her new school, she loves it. We really feel like changing schools was good for Elle. She is really excelling in her new school, and it seems like a perfect fit for her. She was so cute her first day, and she loved posing for the camera. I love my sweet girl, and I am glad that she is doing so well in her new school.

Sisters

That's about all I can say.

Butterfly

The butterfly bush we planted for Hayden grew from a tiny seed and attracted a butterfly. This makes me so happy.

Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic

Elle, Hudson and I woke up early to attend the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic again this year. We pretty much just roll out of bed, and go as is (notice the bed head); but seeing all of the balloons across the Boise skyline is worth it. Elle and Hudson just love it. We took lots of pictures, and watched as each balloon went up, up, up into the sky. Then, when the last balloon had taken off, we made our way into the park to see if any returning balloons were offering free rides. And to Hudson’s delight (since he saw the first balloon, he wanted to fly in one), one hot air balloon was doing just that. So the three of us climbed in (a pregnant lady climbing inside a hot air balloon basket is quite comical) and flew. Hudson thought it was a little loud, but thoroughly enjoyed himself. All in all, it turned out to be a good—early—start to our day.

Love

First Day of School

Elle had her first day of second grade. She was not very excited about it—first grade had its ups and downs—but thankfully, so far, second grade has proved to be enjoyable. She really likes her teacher, her locker, her cubby and all of her pink school supplies. It seems that we are off to a good start this year in elementary school. But since we are moving, and she will have to switch schools, I’m sure we are in for a few more ups and downs.

A Lost Tooth

Elle lost her first front tooth. She is quite excited. It took a while for this tooth to come out—mostly because she was scared to wiggle it too hard—but finally it came. She has not lost a tooth in over a year, so this tooth was highly anticipated. But she was a little disappointed that she did not get a real magic wand from the tooth fairy (that’s another and very long story; let’s just say she has a very active imagination). But she did get money, and I think that sufficed … until the next tooth.
