Summer Matinee

Today, along with some friends, I took Elle to her first movie in the movie theater. We saw, Veggie Tales: The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything. The theater is showing matinees for a dollar during the summer, and I decided to give it a try and see if she liked it. I figured that with a dollar, we weren't out much. Elle is not much of a TV/movie watcher, so I wasn’t sure how long she would last. However, much to my amazement, she loved it, and watched the entire thing. Granted, it was a Veggie Tales movie, but I was still surprised to see her sit through the whole thing.

Needless to say, we are excited to take advantage of this air conditioned, fun summer activity, and we are planning to go to the movie theater next week.

Monterey California Beach House

Johnny, Elle, and I were fortunate enough to be offered the chance to go to Monterey California this weekend. Johnny’s boss gives us the chance to use his beach house for free every once in a while. Whenever the opportunity arises, we jump upon it. We absolutely love the beach, and we can never seem to get enough of it. It also helps when the beach house is only a block away from the beach. It doesn’t get much better than that.

This weekend turned out to be everything we had wished and hoped. We had good weather, great waves, wonderful company, and lots of fun. We spent most of our time at the beach—obviously—and the rest of the time was spent together relaxing and playing.

Elle had a wonderful time, and loved the ocean. It has been a while since we have got to spend so much time at the beach, and she loved every minute of it. As did Johnny and I. Elle’s favorite thing to do was sing, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and dance in the waves. She could do this for hours at a time. She also liked to pretend that she was ice-skating, on account of Disney on Ice that we attended last October. It was really fun watching her, and participating in her imaginings.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend filled with lasting family memories.
