Swimming Lessons Day 1

Elle has just started swimming lessons this week, and she completely loves them. Our neighbors have been doing them for a week, and Elle could not stand the fact that she was not. So, I signed her up—8:30 AM no less—and she is now learning how to swim.

I must admit, that I was a little skeptical on how she would do. She is a timid, don’t get water on my face, kind of girl. I don’t know if she has ever really gotten her head under water—maybe by accident—and it is a little hard to accomplish much of anything in swimming lessons if one won’t get their head wet. So, we both attend her lessons with a little bit of trepidation.

Day one of swimming lessons was pretty much what I expected: nervousness, no getting the head wet, and asking me if she really had to do some of the tasks. However, I also got a little of the unexpected on day one: trying hard, participating with a boy she does not know, and doing new things—even though she was not completely comfortable with them.

Elle did very well on her first day of swimming lessons. She worked hard, and did everything her teacher told her. Although she did not get her head wet, she still tried. She showed me that she is growing up by how she participated. I am very proud of my timid, don’t get water on my face, girl.
