Family Home Evening—Gold

Our theme for Family Home Evening this week was: gold. We had a lesson on the golden plates. We learned all about the plate’s journey from Nephi clear to the hill Cumorah, where Joseph Smith received them and translated them into what we have today: The Book of Mormon. We then created our own golden plates. They were made of sparkly gold paper (Elle was in love with this paper), and then Elle and Hudson drew pictures of their favorite Book of Mormon stories inside (well, Elle did this; Hudson just scribbled—but he worked really hard on those scribbles). After our golden plates were complete, we had gold chocolate for dessert (one can never go wrong with chocolate; but golden chocolate is extra special). All in all, gold was the perfect theme for the week.
