The other day, while I was driving in the car, Elle began asking me about one of the male characters from a movie she had recently watched. She was asking me why this particular character had gotten hurt. I then told her that the bad guys in the movie had hurt him. She looked at me as if I had no idea what she was talking about and said, “But how did he get hurt if he is a boy?” I then asked her—while trying not to laugh—if she thought boys could not get hurt. She replied—condescendingly—“Yea, they’re boys. They’re tough.”
