A Cavity

Despite wonderful brushing skills—mostly Mother brushing skills—Elle still had a despicable cavity. Like most cavities, this one started out small, but over time it grew rather large. The dentist said she needn’t fill it if it stayed at its smaller size, but since it didn’t, it had to be removed. And that is precisely what the dentist did for Elle’s tooth today.

Elle was none too impressed, and did not enjoy the process at all. The shot was horrid, and the drilling and filling were right up there with things she does not wish to endure again. However, even though she did not enjoy the process, she did really well (thanks to the help of bubblegum nitrous oxide). She did everything the dentist told her, and was able to keep her mouth open long enough to accomplish the task in a timely manner. I was very proud of her for being so brave. She is such a good little girl.

I love this picture of her after the dentist. Her mouth is still numb, so it is rather difficult for her to smile. Gotta love those lopsided grins.
