Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic

The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is a hot air balloon event held in the Ann Morrison Park. When I found out about this event, I was excited—I thought it would be the perfect event to take my kids to. Who wouldn’t want to view 28 hot air balloons fill, lift, and take flight in the sky? It is definitely something to see.

The only problem I found with this event was the time it started in the morning: 7:10AM. Having an event start this early in the morning, basically means waking Elle up—never a good idea. Like most children, she desperately needs her sleep. If such sleep is tampered with, my sweet, little girl is turned into an unrecognizable, walk-on-eggshells, watch-what-you-say girl. But sometimes things like sleep and sanity must be sacrificed for the better viewing good. This was too fun of an event to not wake Elle. So, at 6:30, I braced myself and woke Elle up. She was all sweet and smiles—the unrecognizable was to come later. Hudson was already up, so his sleep was not compromised.

With the dreaded job of waking Elle taken care of, we all quickly got ready, jumped in the car, and headed for the park. Once there, we were delighted to view so many colorful balloons. We were able to get up close, and really see the hot air balloons at work. Elle, who has never seen one in real life, was truly amazed. And as the first one lifted up into the air, she was mesmerized. It was a true delight for her imagination.

I am so glad that we attended this event. It was very much worth our time and sacrifice of sleep.

On good weather days we see 3-4 hot air balloons flying over our house early in the morning. The boys love seeing them. We can't wait until the the balloon fiesta this year! Glad you decided to go. It truly is a spectacular thing to see close up.
