Preschool Update

Elle is doing wonderful in preschool—she loves it. I definitely had my doubts on how she would do—especially because she used to tell me she was never going to go to school, and I was going to teach her—but she is doing magnificent. She loves going, and is never hesitant for me to leave.

When we went on Tuesday for her second day of school, I wasn’t sure how soon she would let me go. I was hoping she wouldn’t have a relapse, or suddenly become clingy (she has a history of such behaviors). I decided to take off right away like the other parents, and not make a big deal of it. Thankfully, Elle was more than fine with me leaving. She just looked at me sweetly, kissed me goodbye, and said, "OK. Go home and make me my special snack." I looked at her and smiled sweetly, all the while thinking, "What? That was a one-time thing sweetie. You don’t get a special treat every time you go to school.” But, being the sucker-of-a-mom that I am, I ran home and put together a special cupcake snack. I was a little unprepared, so the butterfly was the first idea I thought of. I had to work with items that I found stowed away in my cupboards and bins; but in the end, I think it turned out pretty well. Elle loved the sugar-loaded treat, and that is all that mattered. Plus, she goes to school and loves it. And I can never resist doing things that put a smile on her face.
