Our theme for family home evening this week was: gifts. For the lesson we learned that there are many types of gifts. We then talked about the many gifts that Heavenly Father has given us—our bodies, our minds, food, knowledge, our agency, and so many others. But there is one gift that he gave to us—the greatest gift of all—that is so important that we are asked to remember it always: the gift of his son, Jesus Christ. Through the gift of our Savior, we are able to be forgiven, know how to live our lives, and be resurrected one day. A very special gift indeed. And, in return for receiving the greatest gift of all, we can give a gift to our Heavenly Father: the gift of obedience. When we love and obey our Heavenly Father, we are giving him a great and wonderful gift.
After the lesson, we made gift magnets to put on our fridge. These magnets are to remind us of the gift of our Savior, and they are also to remind us to always give the gift of obedience.
After our activity, we did not have a snack, because we had already had our sugar quota for the day. But even without the sugar, our family home evening was a success.
