Out of the Mouth of a Three-Year-Old

The things that come out of a child’s mouth can be quite entertaining as well as amusing. I have found this to be true with Elle. There are times I just wonder how she gets ideas in her head, or how she possibly thinks of certain things. I suppose I shall never know; but in the meantime, I shall be quite entertained and amused...

When we went to eat at a restaurant the other day, a waitress called Elle a princess. Elle looked the waitress right in the eye and exclaimed, “I am not a princess; I’m a horse.”

When Elle was having a particularly bad day, I asked her if she wanted to be a big girl. She looked at me and said, “No; I want to be a grump like a baby.”

Elle is constantly coming up with good ideas—or so she thinks—and the other day she explained to me all about her good ideas. She said, “We both have good ideas inside us. Good ideas are inside our heads, and then we take them out and share them with Daddy. Is that a good idea?”
