Halloween was fun and sugar-filled again this year, and my kids could not have been more happy.
We started out the day taking Elle to school and calling poison control (I know, a great way to spend the holiday). I had to call poison control, because Hudson thought it would be a great idea—doesn’t he know by now that his great ideas are not really that great?—to squirt a little Spray and Wash in his mouth. Luckily, it is not that harmful, and I was told that he would be just fine (until his next great idea that is).
After our great morning, we got Elle from school and put Hudson down for a nap (he is much less trouble when he is sleeping). After the too short of a nap, we made caramel apples, we carved pumpkins, and we danced and listened to Halloween music. Oh, and during all our Halloween activities, Hudson managed to sneak out the door without Elle and I noticing. When I did notice, I ran out and looked for him everywhere. I could not find him. I kept yelling his name and looking, but he was nowhere. Finally Elle ran over to the neighbors and knocked, and who should open the door, Hudson. Our neighbors were not home, but Hudson went in anyway and scared me to death in the process.
Once I got my heart under control, I got the kids ready and we went trick or treating. Both kids loved this. No shocker there. But it was cute to see Hudson really get into it. He loved putting the candy in his treat bag. Elle, too, had a great time. Although her hair did get caught on a rose bush, and she was for some reason scared that mean people were going to answer the doors, but even still, she had a wonderful time.
We really did have a great Halloween, and I am glad that I was able to spend the sugar-filled night with Rapunzel and Flynn.
