Our theme for family home evening this week—although I am a little late in posting—was: dirt. Elle found this theme particularly intriguing. She wasn’t exactly sure how dirt could be related to the gospel, but she found out that we can turn anything into a spiritual experience—even dirt.
For our lesson we learned that what we take into our minds can either keep our minds clean, or it can make our minds dirty. We learned of the importance of reading, watching and listening to clean things. We talked about how important it is to only put good/clean things into our minds. After the lesson, we made dirt art, which was a big hit for both kids (making art with dirt is very fun). And then lastly, we ate dirt for dessert (good thing cupcake dirt is delicious). All in all, dirt turned out to be an intriguing and fun family home evening theme.
