Wasteful

After watching the movie, Despicable Me, where there were three orphan sisters, Elle decided she needed to have a talk with me about children. She proceeded to tell me on the car ride home that we—as a family—were not going to have anymore children. She told me, in no uncertain terms, that we were done having children. I told her that we had to at least have one more kid, to which she replied: “Fine, we’ll have three kids—one boy, two girls, a Mom, a Dad and some stuffed animals.”

Later that day, I was explaining Elle’s proposition to Johnny, and Elle again restated her opinion. I asked her if she thought six kids would be a good number, and she was not impressed—she did not enjoy my joke at all. She just looked at me, in all seriousness, and said: “We are having three kids and that is it. Anymore would be wasteful—you’d be wasting babies!”
