Moving Day

The day of moving was always looming near us, but even with all of my preparation, it still came suddenly. It seemed as though the day of our move came quite quickly upon us. Luckily, I had been packing for a month, and so everything was ready to go—especially us. We were all quite tired of living in boxes and bags. We wanted to be in our new house with all of its amenities.

So, Friday morning, we loaded up our Penske truck, and went and stayed at Johnny’s parent’s house. We stayed the night, woke up early, and then started the first leg of our journey to Idaho: Alamo California to Winnemucca Nevada. We decided to divide up our ten-hour-journey into two days instead of one; but even with the division of the days, it still seemed to take us forever to get there—seven hours to be exact. Thankfully, Elle was surprising very good, and the car ride was somewhat pleasant. After a little swimming, dinner, and a good nights rest (if there is such a thing in hotels) we started the second leg of our journey to Idaho: Winnemucca Nevada to Boise Idaho. The second leg of our journey was much shorter—five hours; and believe me, one can really feel the two hour difference. Once there, we had lots of help from family to unload our truck, and get everything inside our new house. We couldn’t have been more thankful to have our twelve-hour-drive behind us.

We are appreciative that the move is now behind us, and we can now focus on unpacking and organizing our new home. Slowly but surely we are getting there. We are very pleased with our new place, and are grateful for the opportunity Johnny has to go back to school and get his MBA. Although moving is such a pain—Johnny and I just figured out that we have moved twelve times during our six years of marriage; a definite pain—a new adventure is always worth the move.
