Labeling

No parent wants to label their child; but for me, it is a necessity. Elle is constantly making up new names for herself, and it can be very hard to keep track of who she is. But one must keep track, for if one accidently calls her by her real name—such a tragedy—she can be reduced to tears. I think I am told on a daily basis that Elle is not her real name, and that she is “sick of that name.”

So, every Sunday, I put a nametag on her that says her pretend name for the day. I do this not only because it makes her feel special, but it also helps her nursery leaders. Everyone at church loves to read her name tag, and find out who she is for that particular Sunday. It has become quite the hit. And I must say, I never thought I would be happily labeling my child.

That is awesome! I think you and Johnny should wear name tags too. Has she named the baby yet?
