Our theme for family home evening this week was: blowfish (Elle’s idea—she is quite creative). For our lesson we learned that the blowfish is not a good swimmer, and therefore vulnerable to predators. However, a blowfish has a way to protect itself: “inflating.” The blowfish has the ability to quickly ingest huge amounts of water and turn itself into an inedible ball. We then talked about how all of us are vulnerable to the predator of sin. But we, too, have a way to protect our selves like the blowfish: the gospel. If we gain a testimony, read our scriptures, follow the prophet, listen to our parents, say our prayers, go to church, follow our Savior, listen to the Holy Ghost and so on, then we too become an inedible ball to sin. We become like a blowfish.
After the lesson, we made our own edible blowfish, with marshmallows and toothpicks. We then placed them on top of our cupcakes and had a delicious blowfish snack (which was not poisonous or deadly like the real ones). It was a great night.
