7 Year Well Visit

Elle recently had her 7 year well visit. I always enjoy these, because I like finding out how my kids are doing, and how they are growing. And Elle’s was especially nice, because I was able to find out that she had gained a whole entire pound from her visit from a year ago. She also grew 2 inches. She is just growing like crazy. (Insert sarcasm.) But at least she is consistent—always right with, or below the tenth percentile. She is just a petite, tiny, little thing. And I will not be surprised if Hudson outgrows her soon. I also got to find out that her heart murmur is still there, and that she has rather large tonsils. Her doctor told me this could have been a reason why she slept so horribly as a baby and as a small child. Large tonsils cause sleep apnea, and we will probably have to have them removed at some time in the future. Who knew? But I think Elle’s tonsils are the only big thing on her body. But other than that, Elle is healthy and doing really well.

Elle’s growth percentiles for the age of 7 are:

Height: 3’ 8.25 (7.56%)

Weight 39 lb (6.4%)

Broadway

Elle went to her first Broadway show—Beauty and the Beast—and she loved it. We had amazingly close seats; the characters were phenomenal; we ate Brookies; caught ribbons; laughed; smiled; held hands; stayed out until 11:00 PM; and we made memories. It was priceless.

Elle's 7th Birthday

Elle’s 7th birthday was filled with: sparklers—including wind that made it hard to light them; a butterfly cake—including dirt (chocolate cake) and worms (the gummy variety); lots of presents—including a new pink desk; favorite dinner—including homemade chicken pot pie; party hats—including two on each head (seemed to be the fun thing to do); a butterfly piñata—including lemon heads and double bubble (Elle and Hudson’s favorite candy); no balloons—including any and all (Elle is terrified of them); and taking friends to play at Planet Kid—including Hudson (siblings are included in all birthday festivities, whether the birthday girl wants it or not).

Elle had a wonderful birthday. She loved turning 7. This year she chose butterflies as her theme, because it reminded her of Hayden. She wanted him to be a part of her birthday, even though he couldn’t be here. I thought that was very sweet of her. She truly loves and misses her baby brother. So this year everything had butterflies on it, and Elle loved it.

Elle is such a sweet, crazy, silly, funny, smart, creative, sensitive, imaginative, good girl. (The list of words to describe Elle could go on and on.) She loves to make everyone laugh, and is constantly devising and creating ways to do just that. She loves to perform magic tricks, and likes to show everyone how she can pull her thumb off. She is sweet, kind and caring, and wants everyone to feel happy. She loves to try new things, and is always up for doing anything. She is very social and constantly lets me know that she cannot live without her friends. I truly love this little girl, and I am so glad she is my daughter. She makes life exciting and fun. She makes life unpredictable and crazy. She makes life sweet and memorable. But mostly she makes life perfect, just by being herself.

Thanks Elle for everything. Happy Birthday!

Motorcycle Love

Hudson is in love. Too bad we cannot get one. Being too young to drive is a bummer

Elle

I love this girl so much. But she is growing up too fast. It is hard to believe that she will be seven soon. Where has the time gone? Such cliché words, but very true.

600 Cups

When bored, all one needs is 600 cups. My kids played for hours with my trusty bag of Dixie cups. They literally covered my floor. But they were thoroughly entertained. Plus, they learned a new, not-very-useful skill: cup-stacking.
