Love

I love my crazy, goofy, silly, sweet, wonderful children. I am biased, but to me they are the best.

Obsessed

Hudson is OBSESSED with the vacuum. So much so, that I have been found to vacuum my house 2-3 times a day. A little excessive I know, but it makes Hudson so happy that I cannot help but re-vacuum my already spotlessly clean floors again and again.

Hudson is absolutely relentless when it comes to the vacuum. He will grab my pants and pull me to the closet where the vacuum is stored multiple times throughout the day. He begs—grunts—for me to vacuum. He will cry and throw tantrums if I do not vacuum the floor. And if I do vacuum the floor, then he grabs his golf club and watches and smiles the entire time. It is a little hard to resist him the pleasure of the vacuum.

That being said, I was excited to find a toy vacuum for Hudson for a $1.50 (that’s right folks, I got the ultimate bargain). Hudson was overjoyed at my find. He has played with his vacuum non-stop, and he will not let ANYONE—not even his sister—have a turn. He even likes to sleep with his vacuum. It is a comfort to him (I, however, think it would be uncomfortable to sleep with). But sleep with a vacuum he must.

I cannot believe how obsessed he really is. The vacuum has become the way to distract, please, uplift and engage my son. There is not a tantrum or bad mood that cannot be fixed with the sound of the vacuum (why I do not know). But even though I constantly laugh at his obsession, I am happy that he has something that pleases him so much.

Family Home Evening—Eyes

Our theme for Family Home Evening this week was: eyes. We had a lesson from a story President Thomas S. Monson gave about looking through dirty windows. Basically we learned to use our eyes to see good things, and not be so critical and judgmental of others (a lesson all of us can use). We then made some googly-eye pictures (very silly and fun). And lastly, we made some edible eyeballs for our treat (don’t let the name deceive you, they were delicious). All in all themed Family Home Evening this week was a success.

I am really enjoying planning and finding creative ways to have fun and teach my children the gospel of Jesus Christ; but mostly, I love how together our family becomes on Monday nights (eating eyeballs tends to do that to a family).

Daddy's Little Helper

Hudson loves to help his daddy do anything (mainly because his daddy uses tools). And when Johnny started rotating the tires on my car the other day, Hudson was beside himself (he didn’t know which greasy part of the tire he should hold first). It was so cute seeing him work and try to rotate the tires with Johnny—even though he was covered in grease by the end of the task. But it was worth every black-covered finger, because he had so much fun with his daddy.

Lopsided Smile

Elle had to go to the dentist to get another cavity filled, and it produced the same results as the last time: a lopsided smile. I just love seeing her lopsided grin. It makes me smile—although not in a lopsided way.

Smile

I love my two kids and how they make me smile. No matter how the day is going, or what stresses are pushed my way, my children know just what to do to put a genuine smile upon my face.

Irish Dance Anyone?

Elle loves to dance. She especially loves to use her newly acquired Irish dance steps. They are her go to moves. And I love to watch her dance. Her serious dance face always makes me laugh.

Family Home Evening—Butterflies

Our theme for family home evening this week was butterflies. Johnny gave a lesson on the creation (butterflies were included); we made paper butterflies for our craft (Elle loved this); and for our more-elaborate-than-water snack, we made butterfly cupcakes (very yummy). All in all, our themed family home evening was a success—even though I had to do a lot more than turn the faucet on.

Strawberries

Elle and I planted strawberries in our garden yesterday. It was a lot of fun. Elle loves to pick everything—grass, our neighbor’s flowers, dandelions, our neighbor’s flowers, blossoms, our neighbors flowers—so I thought it would be fun to plant something she could pick that didn’t involve our neighbor’s flowers. When I proposed the idea to Elle, she was thrilled. She cannot believe that she will have her very own strawberry patch where she can care for and pick whatever she wants. I am also glad, because I am quite tired of her picking our neighbor’s flowers (not that there are any left). Basically, our strawberry patch is a good situation for Elle, our neighbor, me and the poor picked-over flowers.

Monkey Bizness

Elle did this…

So we did this…

Being good and earning popcorn seeds equals lots of fun.
