Splish Splash

Elle and I were both equally glad to finally have a warm enough day to go swimming—well, wading. Elle thoroughly enjoyed herself; it was a wonderful, warm day.

Day At the Zoo

Today, Elle and I went with some of our friends to the Oakland Zoo. It was quite enjoyable, and thankfully, very warm. Elle enjoyed perusing the zoo, and I enjoyed her excitement and exuberance. One of the highlights was when the otters swam right to us, and then proceeded to flip and twist under the water. However, even the otters could not beat the fact that Elle was finally tall enough to ride the cars located outside the zoo. We have had many of times at the zoo filled with tears, all because she was not tall enough to ride this small amusement ride. Elle was quite overjoyed to finally have the right and privilege to ride in the forbidden car. It was a great way to top off an already fun day.

Dress Up

Elle’s favorite thing to do right now is to adorn herself in dress up clothes and dance to princess music. And, of course, she goes all out—earrings, necklaces, buttons, headbands, shoes, bracelets, rings, and whatever else suits her fancy at the moment. She is a girl through and through, and we love her.

I Am Not A Child

Today, when Johnny was trying to tell Elle something she must do, she retorted, "I am not a child. I am sixteen years old." She obviously got this from The Little Mermaid, but it was funny nonetheless. Johnny obviously didn't know what to say to her, and I had a hard time repressing a smile. She is quite a character, and definitely keeps us on our toes.

And One More Makes...

...Four!

Johnny, Elle, and I are pleased to announce that we are adding a new addition to our little family. Today was my first appointment, and I was excited to get the first ultrasound. I am thirteen weeks along, and due around September 24th. We couldn’t be more pleased or excited; this truly is a blessing in our lives.

Princess Bike

Elle is quite enamored with her new princess bike. Grandma Dalin (aka Yaya) gave her the beloved bike for her birthday. Today was her first day riding it, and she couldn’t have been happier. She is doing pretty well riding it, despite the frustration of the brakes. Thank you, Yaya, for the wonderful birthday present. Elle couldn’t be more pleased.

One Year Older

Where does time go? And why is it going so fast? Today was my twenty-sixth birthday, and I have to say, I no longer enjoy keeping track of my age. As a child growing up, a birthday was such an exciting time. I looked forward to it; I counted down days; I was excited to be one year older. Now, it seems that a birthday only signifies how fast time goes. However, despite my pessimism for the quickness of time, I wouldn’t change one moment. I have enjoyed, learned, and grown in so many ways. I have gained, achieved, and acquired beyond my expectations. Although I am one year older, I am also one year more blessed. So, here is to birthdays and the passage of time.

Twins

Elle really enjoys dressing hers dolls in the same clothes as she, herself, is wearing.
